Producers of ‘Pure water’ embark on Strike action in Warri

Producers of sachet water popularly called pure water have embarked on strike action in Warri.

The action that started on Thursday 13th April, 2023 has consequently led to the increase in the price of a sachet of water as a sachat was sold for 30 naira and above as against the previous price of two sachet of water for 30 naira as the time of filing this report.

A retailer in the Warri Garage area who pleaded anonymity disclosed that a bag of pure water was sold for 300 naira and above as against the previous price of 250 naira at as the time of the media chat.

” My supplier told me that the strike action was because of the increase in the cost of production ” She added.

Food vendors who spoke on the development, said that they no longer give their customers sachet water free of charge.

A Warri based renowned public analyst Chief Akpojotor Adjarho expressed fears that the development could lead to the outbreak of water borne diseases.

He said that those that cannot afford pure water will go for untreated water.

Adjarho then called on the authorities concerned to wade into the matter in the interest of the health of the masses.
