Honour was given to whom honour was due as HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe , the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom honoured the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC ) Comrade Goodluck Orovwegodo Ofobruku with the chieftaincy title of Majabofun of Uvwie Kingdom on Saturday 18th June, 2022.
The number one labour leader in Delta State is a native of Ekpan Community in Uvwie Local Government Area.
In his citation read by Professor Joe Abugu ( SAN) shortly before the conferment of the chieftaincy title, Comrade Ofobruku was praised for his numerous contributions to the development of Uvwie Kingdom.
Among one of such contributions was his chairmanship of last year ‘ s Uvwie Day celebration .
The Secretary of Uvwie General Improvement Union ( UGIU ) Asaba Branch , Mr. Patrick Omagbemi corroborated the remarks on Comrade Ofobruku in the citation in a brief media chat with our correspondent.
Omagbemi a Public Relations Officer ( PRO) in the Ministry of Information , Delta State remarked that the Chairman of NLC, Delta State Chapter, truly deserved the honour of the chieftaincy conferment.
He attested that the new Uvwie chief was very supportive to UGIU Asaba Branch.
Ofobruku who spoke to newsmen shorty after the event, thanked the Uvwie monarch for considering him worthy for the chieftaincy conferment.
He vowed that the honour will spur him to do more for Uvwie, Delta State , Nigeria and humanity.
Ofobruku enjoined those in authorities to always assist their traditional rulers in the development of their communities .
” That is the only way our communities can grow.” he added.
Ofobruku had earlier explained that the meaning of his chieftaincy title is purity.
The Majabofun of Uvwie Kingdom then urged people to shun evil and do what is good .
