A notorious interstate kidnap syndicate that has been operating in Delta, Rivers, Enugu, and Imo State has been dismantled by Operatives of Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team, CP-SAT.
All members and leader of the gang are Hausa/Fulani but resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State from where they terrorize the whole of South South and South East regions of the country.
Suspect Idirisu Yakubu, 21, from Kwara State was trailed to Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt where he resides and upon interrogation led Operatives to the arrest of their leader and Coordinator, Bello Amodu, 40.
Amodu hails from Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State but also resides at Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt.
Untill his arrest Amodu coordinated the various syndicates in the South South and South East regions.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the kingpin in charge of Enugu axis, Umar Muhammed Beto, 38, of Tsamiya village, Bagudu LGA, Kebbi State who is a resident of the Oil Mill Area, Port Harcourt.
Grilled further the suspects led Operatives to a bush along Ughelli – Ozoro Road in Delta State where one AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 23 rounds of live ammunition and a pump action with 7 rounds of live cartridges were recovered.
Investigation on the crackdown is ongoing, said the Command’s PPRO, SP Edafe Bright in a statement.
