Odionwere Vincent Edogiawerie

• Says report is handwork of mischief makers

By Kingsley Abavo, Benin

It is not true that the market land in Obazagbon village, Oredo Local Government area of Edo State has been put on sale, the Odionwere Vincent Enogheghase Edogiawerie has said.

It is important to make the clarification to correct the allegation being circulated by some faceless mischief makers on the social media, he said.

“Recently, I saw on social media the allegation by some unscrupulous and faceless mischief makers, that I have put the Obazagbon market land for sale.

“Let me make it clear here that the allegation is entirely not true, but aimed by the authors to blackmail my good reputation and image, as well cause unnecessary crisis in the village.

“Rather, I and the Council of Elders have decided to relocate the market from its present site to a better location; bigger and safer.

“I want to therefore appeal to the public to ignore the allegation in its entirety, as the authors do not mean well for anyone. These are rebels who are against the good of the Obazagbon village.”

Warning those behind the allegation to retrace their step, Odionwere Edogiawerie said the Council of Elders in their resolve to continue to work for the peace, growth and development of Obazagbon, would not hesitate to decisively use the law to deal with anyone caught in the act.

He also lamented the wanton vandalization of public utilities in the village by these unscrupulous persons who he said, are threats to the well-being of Obazagbon village.

According to him, recently, the cable wires of the 500KVA transformer of the village were stolen by unknown persons strongly suspected to be this same group of unscrupulous and troublemakers.

Hence to beef up the security situation in Obazagbon, on self effort the services of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) have been hired by the leadership of the village.

This is as he solicited the financial aid and collaboration of the State Government and well meaning residents of the village, in the effort to tackling the several challenges confronting the people especially in the area of erosion and flood control, including the fight against insecurity.

Odionwere Edogiawerie reiterated the warning; that anti progress elements in the village had better repent before the long arm of the law caught up with them.

“Any person who wants to usurp the powers and authority of the Odionwere in impersonation to misinforming members of the public, with the intent to cause disharmony for personal gains would only not be tolerated, but ensure the law decisively takes its full course.”
