In spite of the Central Bank of Nigeria last weekend directive on commercial banking, there appeared to be no improvement on naira crisis in commercial banks monitored by our correspondent in Warri South and Uvwie local government areas
Customers in there numbers groaned under hot sun at the gates of the said banks struggling to be attended on Monday 27th March, 2023 .
It would be recalled that there was a low compliance of CBN order on weekend commercial banking in the 2 local government areas as the commercial banks monitored by news men failed to meet the expectations of the suffering customers.
It was even worst on Sunday as most banks opened for business very late and closed very late.
Meanwhile some residents who spoke were in support of Nigeria Labour ( NLC ) threat of national strike on the naira palaver.
One of them was the National Assistant Secretary of Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organisation (UPIO )Christian Avbarefe, an engineer, noted that the strike action is the language Federal Government can understand on the issue.
He noted the small amount of money being given to fortunate customers by the commercial banks was one of the causes the large crowd at the banks .
” The highest amount they ( banks ) give , is 10,000 to each customer. So it is expected that those that were given 10,000 will come the next day for more cash ” he added
