Cultists top list of arrested criminal suspects in Delta

Cultists topped the list of suspected criminals that were arrested by Operatives of Delta State Police Command within the year ending.

Out of a total of 678 suspects arrested for various crimes, 329 were cultists. Armed robbery suspects were recorded as runner up with a total of 131 suspects arrested.

The next category of criminal suspects by class size were those involved in kidnapping ( 88) while murder suspects numbered 76 with 54 rape and defilement suspects trailing the catches.

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi disclosed this during a press briefing detailing activities and achievements of the Command since he assumed office as 22nd CP of the State.

He informed that a total of 150 firearms and 5,042 ammunitions/catridges were recovered during the period.

A breakdown of the arms recovered is as follows: Single barrel/Cut-to-size guns (72), AK47/AK-49 rifles (32), Beretta pistols (27) and Pump action guns (19).

The CP added that 27 vehicles were recovered and 48 kidnap victims were rescued.
