The Igbos in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts have pledged bloc votes for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State governoship candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and PDP Delta State House of Assembly candidates in the rescheduled March 11th , 2023 elections.
They made the pledge at a town hall meeting with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa hosted by Igbo political appointees at Jubilee Event Centre, Enerhen Uvwie Local Government Area on Wednesday 8th March , 2023 .
The President Ohaneaze Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts Chief Clement Chiedu Idama in his address explained that the pledge was in reciprocation of Governor’s patronage for the Igbos in Delta State.
Idama who disclosed that the event was sponsored by the leadership of Ndigbo Political Ambassadors (NPA), declared that the pledge was a pay back to Governor Okowa.
Hon ( Chief ) Michael Ezeh , Nze Francis Onuora , Hon Festus Ukeje and Dr Ogbonnaya Igwe ( Executive Assistant to Governor Okowa on Community Development, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Community Development , Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Political Affairs and Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Community Development respectively ) in their separate speeches appreciated the governor for his goodness towards the Igbos in the state.
In his response, Governor Okowa thanked the Igbos for their words of appreciation, support for him , the PDP and pledge for Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.
He assured that Rt Hon Oborevwori will excel as governor of Delta State.
He therefore urged the Igbos and indeed Deltans to cast their votes for the PDP governorship candidate and house of assembly candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The governor was accompanied by Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the incumbent member of Delta State House of Assembly representating Uvwie Constituency , Chief Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata (who is gunning for another tenure ) and Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon Ramson Tega Onoyake .
The town hall meeting was attended by representatives of a cross section of Igbos in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.
