Wong Box flees as Police in Delta launches manhunt after him

A Delta State based human rights activist, Victor Ojie has been declared wanted by the Delta State Police Command.

A statement issued by the Command’s PPRO, SP Edafe Bright said the Command has launched a manhunt after the fleeing activist vowing to put all necessary resources in place to ensure the suspect was re arrested.

The statement informed that the suspect who is also known as Wong Box jumped bail after he was arrested and taken in custody on August 14, for alleged assault that occasioned harm, threat to life and threatening violence contrary to Sec 355, 86, and 249 of the Criminal Code.

A narrative by Police image maker said Wong Box assaulted a Benin Electric Distribution Company staff who came to his compound situated at Anyameluhor Street in Asaba,

to officially disconnect him from the National grid following Electric bill payment default amounting to N4,870,780

He allegedly brandished a cutlass and threatened to cut the BEDC staff if his electric power supply source was not re connected. In the melee that followed a pregnant female staff of BEDC was hurt and taken to hospital where she received medical treatment for two weeks.

The PPRO quoted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda’s intolerance to unlawful behaviour orrespective of the social status of thise involved and assured that the suspect will be brought to justice.
