Rt, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State.
*Adds Oborevwori not yet member of APC
By John Egie
A legal researcher and member of the All People’s Congress, APC, Mr Jenkins Ejiro Wisike, has said the vote of confidence passed on Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori at a unity meeting of members of APC in Evwreni yesterday is null and void since the claim of the governor as a member of the APC is in dispute.
Jenkins, a constitutional democrat, explained that the governor still holds and has not relinquished the PDP mandate given to him in 2023 and until he formally renounces that mandate and he is duly cleared under APC Constitutional procedures, he cannot be considered a legitimate member of the APC in Delta State and as such cannot enjoy a vote of confidence from members of the APC in Delta State.
” I am saying that so long he is still enjoying the votes of the PDP which qualifies him to be the present governor of Delta State, he is a statutory member of the PDP”.
He was reacting to the outcome of a unity meeting aimed at introducing and integrating members of the PDP who recently defected enmasse to the APC to forge a united political family. The meeting was held at the residence of the founder of the party in the state, Chief Emerhor Otega in Evwreni.
But Jenkins faulted the legitimacy of the meeting observing the principal officers of the APC in the local government area including the party chairman, secretary and other members of the executives as well as chairmen of the eleven wards in the local government area who are constitutionally empowered to preside over and record proceedings of the meeting were conspicuously absent from the meeting.
” Their absence renders any decision taken during the meeting null, void and not binding on party members”.
He alleged that the loyalty, body and soul of the new APC members remain with the PDP and their presence and participation in the purported meeting do not, in any form, confer legitimacy on the meeting that held without authorization of the duly constituted LGA Executive Committee of the party.

” I wish to state that the decisions taken at the meeting, including the purported vote of confidence are invalid, he said and urged all APC members and faithful to submit themselves to the provisions of the party constitution and be guided accordingly.
