The family of music legend, Prof. Sir Victor Uwaifo has promised to give him a befitting burial.
The family claims that Victor is a legend who has a global icon and lived a fulfilled Life, “So we are planning a befitting burial for him to make the world know that he has a family that is equally great”.
They stated this on Wednesday when the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council led by the Chairman, Sir Roland Osakwe paid a condolence visit.
Towards this, a planning committee for the burial has been put in place and it is ready to work with all stakeholders including the NUJ, Edo State Council, it was disclosed.
Condoling with the family, Osakwe said the Union was shocked when the news of the passing of Uwaifo reached members, as the leadership celebrated with him recently when the Esama, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion played host to him on his 80th birthday.
Osakwe acknowledged the legendary personality of Uwaifo who he said has left his foot prints in the sand of time, and only has gone to rest but not dead.
Hence, the family should not mourn but give thanks to God for a fufilled life he spent on earth.
Quoting the Shakespearean Julius Caesar: ‘death will come when it will’ the NUJ Chairman urged the family to be of good courage and strength to build on the good legacies Uwaifo left behind.
