Uvwie street naming should be for immortalization of personalities says Abugu

Uvwie born University Of Lagos Don and legal icon , Professor Joe Abugu ( SAN ) has suggested that street naming in Uvwie Local Government Area should be for immortalizarion of Uvwie distinguished personalities ( living or dead ).

Abugu who was the moderator in a coloqium titled Uvwie : Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow at PTI Conference Centre Effurun made the suggestion while responding to submission of a discussant Dr Ejiro Imuere on Wednesday 19th April, 2023 .

The Wadoo City advocate, Dr Ejiro Imuere had suggested that streets in the local government area should be named to immortalized distinguished personalities in the kingdom and that the status of such personalities should be mounted along with the naming as was done in Benin City headquarters of Edo State to the applaud of the audience.

The moderator Professor Joe Abugu then stated that street naming should not be for sale in Uvwie Local Government Area but rather be for immortalizarion of Uvwie distinguished personalities.

He called on the local government council to exercise its power to put motion in place to change names of some streets in the area as suggested by the discussant .

Other topical and interesting issues relating to the coloqium were discussed by a galaxy of other renowned resource personalities that included : Professor Goddin G Darah ( who read the keynote address ) , Professor ( Mrs ) Rose Aziza ,Dr Daro Austin Ejumudo , the President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Chief Abovi Hope Erute , Chief Assin Godstime among others.

The epoc making event was richly attended by HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe 1 the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, his family, the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council Hon Ramson Tega Onoyake ( represented by the Secretary of the local government councl, Lady Margaret Obiku ) , Uvwie chiefs , clergymen and other cross section of Uvwie Kingdom.
