Ughelli Indigenes, a socio-political pressure group sympathetic to the APC has cautioned aggrieved members of the APC against the dangers of Okowa150 billion naira loan pie lure being dished to those who could resign membership of the party and decamp to the PDP.
In an interview with Spy News shortly after an emergency meeting held in Ughelli yesterday, the group’s national coordinator, Hon Goddey Okorodafe congratulated Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie-Agege for emerging as the guber candidate of the APC for Delta 2023 governorship election.
He said the group was not surprised at the consensus votes given to Omo-Agege by delegates during the primary election, stressing that was a testimony of their conviction in his capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
Hon Okorodafe added that it was the expectation of Ughelli Indigenes that Senator Ovie-Agege would make significant positive impact towards the development of Ughelli kingdom and the entire state at large when elected governor in 2023.
The group also congratulated Barr Spencer Ohwofa for his emergence as the candidate of APC, Ughelli North Constituency 2, believing that he would make great impact as a Lawmaker in the next Assembly of the Delta House.
The group used the opportunity to urge all sons and daughters of Ughelli kingdom who lost out during the primary election of the party to remain faithful and loyal to the leadership of the party and it’s guber candidate, Senator Ovie-Agege, as a bright future awaits them.
Hon Okorodafe said that Ughelli Indigenes were aware of some persons from Ughelli kingdom who are aggrieved by the outcome of the party House of Assembly primary election and further urged all such persons to remain committed to the party.
“We are aware that some persons are resigning their positions as Aides/APC membership due to the following reasons: outcome of the party primary, complaints by aides of inadequate welfare packages and lure of partaking in the share of the N150 billion borrowed by Governor Okowa with the hope that those who resign and decamp to the PDP would be adequately catered for with huge financial takehome.
“We advise all who are angry as a result of the party primary to calm down and realize that all cannot be elected at the same time.
“We are also aware that Senator Ovie-Agege played a neutral role in the conduct of the primary election and those who emerged should not consider themselves victorious as there was no Victor no Vanquished, rather, all should work for the benefit of the party.
“For aides to the DSP who we learnt are vexed by inadequate welfare packages prompting their resignation and decamp to the PDP, they should realize that the governorship seat is an elephant and when Omo-Agege is elected as governor, God willing, everyone will benefit sufficiently.
“We warn those who are being lured by the delicacy of the pie to be grabbed from the 150 billion naira loan obtained by Governor Okowa to be careful and remain faithful to the APC and it’s governorship candidate, Senator Ovie-Agege, so as to avoid joining Okowa on the journey to jail in the nearest immediate future.”
The group also hailed the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ede Dafinone, Francis Waive and Matthew Omonade as presidential, Delta Central senatorial district, Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency and Ughelli North Constituency 1 candidates respectively.
“We want to reassure all that the 22 communities in Ughelli kingdom and the Ughelli Urban Zone are all for APC” Okorodafe said.
