A man, 29, simply identified as Twere Shipiode who stood in defence of his daughter from being sexually abused has been murdered by the sex abuser.
The deceased was found dead and in a pool of his own blood at the scene of crime in Otujeremi, in Ughelli South LGA when Police responded to a distress call for rescue.
The assailant, Paul Ogilo, 26, after killing the girls father took to his heels before he was arrested by the Police in an uncompleted building where he hid, with the weapon of murder, Kitchen knife, still in his hand.
The account of the crime which happened on Wednesday, January 12 was contained in a release issued yesterday, by the Delta State Police Command’s PPRO, Bright Edafe.
According to the release, on Wednesday, January 12, at about 2100hours, the Divisional Police Officer Otu-Jeremi Division received a distress call that a man was stabbed to death at Otu-jeremi community in Ughelli South LGA.
The DPO mobilized and led Police patrol teams to the scene where the lifeless body of the man was seen in a pool of his own blood and the house deserted.
“Investigations revealed that there was an altercation between the deceased named Twere Shipiode ‘m’ aged 29yrs and one Paul Ogilo ‘m’ age 26years.
“The suspect was trailed to an uncompleted building in Otu-Jeremi where he was seen with a kitchen knife suspected to have been used in committing the crime and he was immediately arrested.
” Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted committing the dastardly act. He further stated that a fight ensued between him and the deceased after the deceased found him in his house and that the deceased accused him of attempting to defile his daughter.
“He stated that during the fight, he used the kitchen knife to stab the victim on the neck. Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Police operatives attached to the Command’s Raiders unit, raided a black spot at Ogharafe, Oghara in Ethiope west LGA and arrested 20 suspected cultists recovered fabricated wooden gun, 648 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, one used female pant, various charms, one Knife, Sixteen bottles of codeine, ten packs of razlers, one Grinder used in grinding weeds and the sum of sixty-nine thousand (#69,000).
The release further said investigation on the catche was ongoing.
While commending the Operatives for a job well done, the CP of the Command, Ari Muhammed Ali encouraged all Area Commanders, DPOS, Tactical Commanders to sustain the tempo and ensure that continuous raids of black spots are carried out within their area of responsibilities.
“The CP also urges parents and guardians to caution their wards to desist from buying, selling or taking hard drugs as whoever is caught will be arrested and prosecuted.” The statement added.
