The new president addressing members of Rotary Club, Auchi Metropolitan
* Promises 10 community projects within one year

Comrade Victor Okhaimo, the newly elected President, Rotary Club of Auchi Metropolitan, District 9141 has earmarked 10 community service projects to be completed and inaugurated before the completion of his tenure next years.
Comrade Okhaimo stated this during his installation ceremony held in Auchi as the 18th president of the club.
Comrade Okhaimo said the 10 community service projects include: construction of borehole, construction of public toilet, renovation of primary and secondary school, provision of one year scholarship support to 15 indigent students, donation of books to schools and other learning materials.
Others are; micro credit/grants to widows and female entrepreneurs, provision of speed limit/traffic signs along major roads in Auchi and environs and construction of grandfather’s clock in major junction in the area.
According to him, “My plan is to start, complete and commission 10 community service projects throughout this rotary years.
“We have identified Auchi as one of the fastest growing towns in Nigeria and we have no option than to ensure our club grows in tandem with this trend” he said.
The president noted that the need for the projects cannot be overemphasised as Rotary Club is the hope of many people within the communities.
He however assured of his leadership to impact positively on the lives of the people within the community during his tenure.
“Let us all leave here ready to make their lives better in the little ways that we can.
“As a rotarian, let us with renewed vigor support our communities with ideals of rotary, let us lead the way as rotary shares its legacy of “Service Above Self” he said.
He further stated that one of the goals is to localise the club and ensure its leadership starts evolving around members residing within the town and its environs, adding that this would definitely improve membership strength and the fortunes of the club.
In his words, “I am truly proud to be a rotarian and indeed very honoured and humble to be elected the 18th president of the Rotary Club of Auchi Metropolitan for the 2023/2024 rotary year.
“With the help and support of my very experienced board members and fellow club members, I will do my best to meet the expectations we have all collectively set out for ourselves.
“Our club has been built on a strong leadership foundation, and I am fortunate to have a membership that is fully committed to the rotary ideal of “Service Above Self”
“Members have shown their confidence in me by electing me and I look forward to serving diligently.
“Let me re-assure you of my unalloyed commitment and loyalty to the club and its ideals hoping to be guided at all times by the object of rotary and the 4-Way Test.
“As a team under my privileged leadership, we are committed to making the 2023/2024 year one of the most remarkable years for the club in this district” he said.
The outgoing president, Mr Lucky Idahosa thanked members for their support during his tenure and urged rotarians to support the new exco.
“I want to specially thank all rotarians from depth of my heart, particularly my rotary leaders who stood by me and my team this rotary year.
“Our success story would not have been possible without your immense contribution” Idahosa said.
Earlier, the Chairman, Installation Committee, Mr Yakubu Musa said position of the president of the rotary club of Auchi is one year tenure.
“The installation of the new president is yearly programne where new president is elected haven’t spend one year in office.
“This year installation coincide with this year’s theme “Create Hope in the World”.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the induction of board of directors, new members and presentation of humanitarian awards to the Deputy Gov of Edo state, Rt Hon. Philip Shaibu, Prof Medina Kadiri, Dr. Sadiq Ikharo and Dr Sunny Eshiotse.
The organisation earlier visited the Itsoghena Orphanage Home where food items, educational and clothing materials worth thousands of naira were donated to the children of the home.
