Senator Ede Dafinone

By John Egie

Senator Ede Dafinone and his second term bid promoters have been challenged to produce the Report Card of Ede’s performance in the Senate before the Urhobo people or remain silent.

The challenge was thrown by a public affairs analyst and political commentator, Engr Efe Omojevwe while responding to an article titled, ‘ Building National Influence Through Leadership Continuity’ written by Emmanuel Omohavwa, also a public affairs analyst.

The article attempted to solicit support from Urhobo people to allow Senator Ede Dafinone return to the Senate for a second term, arguing that by so doing, Sen Ede Dafinone would earn the status of a ranking Senator, which would position him to bolster increased influence in the National Assembly with concomitant results of attracting ‘goodies’ to Urhoboland.

The article which was widely syndicated received the attention of of Engr Efe Omojevwe in Spy News Online WhatsApp platform and in reaction, Omojevwe challenged the writer and all persons involved in promoting the return of Ede Dafinone to the Senate to, ” Let him schedule a date at Uvwiamuge with Urhobo Nation and present his score card. There, he will know if the Urhobos are happy with him or not. No plenty Turenchi”

Contacted to give further explanation to his remark, Engr Omojevwe said the promoters of Senator Ede Dafinone’s return to the Senate have been too verbose and needed to be told to be minceful of their verbosity and direct the effort to showcasing the senators tangible and measurable achievements that have direct impact on the lives of the Urhobo people since he has been in the Senate.

This he said, should be done during a meeting with the Urhobo people at Urhobo House in Uvwiamuge on a date arranged by him.

“Senator Ede Dafinone is a gentleman who has not performed anything since he went to the Senate. Let him come and present his score card. Has he done any empowerment anywhere? Is he aware that he is not going back to the Senate that is why he is keeping his money? Let us see what he has done and compare them with value of fund he received for constituency projects.

“The Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo Agege presented his score card before the Urhobo people at Uvwiamuge. It is not a big deal. It is Ede Dafinone’s score card we want to see.

“Is he behaving like Francis Waive who is aware that he is not returning to the House of Representatives and that is why he is no longer junketing about like he used to do? He has now become Abuja politician. Waive took advantage of the achievements of Senator Ovie Omo Agege hiding under his cover to be relevant and win a second term and now that Ovie Omo Agege is not there, what can Waive boast of having done?

” We have the Delta Steel Company, Aladja that is wasting away, what has Dafinone done about it? He is just there to buy POS for people.

The Federal University of Petroleum, Ugbromor is one of the six in the world and only one in Africa. It is supposed to be placed under the Ministry of Petroleum so that it could be properly funded but it is under the Ministry of Education. What has Dafinone done about it?Senator Dafinone is not in touch with his constituents that is why he is not aware of their challenges, does he even come to Urhobo land? He does not care. This Lagos people, they don’t care. Let him finish his term and go back to Lagos if he cannot bring his score card”.
