The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has made fresh promises towards the welfare of personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

The promises were conveyed by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali during an interactive session with men and officers of the Delta State Command at the Police Headquarters, Asaba, Wednesday, March 23.

The development was in response to a planned strike action by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in protest of the nonchalant attitude of supervisory authorities towards their welfare.

Speaking through the Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command, CP Ari Muhammad Ali , the IGP said that the police is a regimented organization with laid down rules and regulations guiding its operations and that there are existing procedures to address grievances and strike action is certainly not a part of it.

According to him, it was his mission and vision to reposition the Force and therefore solicited support and cooperation of all.

He said incorporation of the NPF insurance company to guarantee seamless insurance services to officers as well as the general public among many other reformations are ongoing.

In addition, IGP said modern Police Stations are currently being built all over the federation, Delta State inclusive, as well as ongoing renovations in some barracks even at the Force Headquarters Abuja.

He therefore urged all officers and men to go on with their normal duties reassuring them of the police authority commitment to their welfare and hence, it would be unwise and unfair to embark on any strike action.

Responding, officers and men of the Command, echoed their support and assured the IGP and the CP of thier commitment to service, pledging that they will not be part of any strike action or any other act that will bring the good name of the force and the Command to disrepute.
