Police recover Berreta pistol from 25 yr old man in Asaba

Delta State Police Command is yet to unravel the motive behind the illegal possession of firearms by a 25 year old man identified as John Chukwuji, a native of Akuku-Agbor.

It was learnt the said Chukwuji was travelling from Agbor to his village when a team of Anticrime patrol recovered a Berreta pistol from him during a stop and search operation yesterday.

A statement issued by the Command’s PPRO, SP Edafe Bright said investigation on the matter is ongoing.

Meanwhile, two suspects, who specialize in stealing phones from unsuspecting passengers boarding tricycles (Keke); Collins Akpinoba ‘m’ , 27yrs and his co conspirator, David Paulson ‘m’ ,38yrs have been arrested in Asaba.

Luck ran out of the duo when one of their victims noticed his missing phone as they were traveling along Nnebisi Road heading towards Okpanam Road in Asaba on Monday, March 25 and raised the alarm.

Sympathisers helped him track down the suspects who were then handed over to the police.

The Command’s PPRO, SP Edafe Bright  confirmed the story in a release issued by him.

The release reiterated CP Abaniwonda Olufemi’s resolve to rid the state of criminals and warned such hoodlums to have change of behaviour otherwise, the long arm of the law would catch up with them.
