Alleged Police Extortion, Edo CP orders investigation

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro has ordered an investigation into a case of extortion allegedly the involving some men of the Command.

A release issued by the DPPRO of the Command, Jennifer Iwegbu said the attention of the CP was drawn to the alleged ugly development by an online report.

“The attention of the Edo State Police Command has been drawn to an online Report, where one Arc Edwardz (surname unknown) was alleged to have been extorted of his hard earned money by personnel of the Edo State Police Command along Benin-Ore Expressway.

“The CP frowns and unreservedly condemns the act, and hence saddened with the development, he has ordered the Assistant Commissioner incharge of Command X-Squad and the OC CP monitoring unit of the Command to unravel those personnel behind what he simply described as “shameful act”.

“He also uses this opportunity to call on the members of the general public with useful information(s) on this erring personnel to contact, AC X-Squad on 08101135551, the Officer in Charge of CP’s monitoring unit on 08062393675, and also the Commissioner of Police on his direct line 08037233584.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc further assures members of the public of their safety and employs them to make it duty bound to always report unwholesome/ unprofessional conduct of personnel of the Command, that the Command under his watch will ensure that Justice is served and the erring personnel sanctioned in accordance with the provision of the law.” The release added.
