Operatives of Delta State Police Command have arrested six suspects, three each from Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA and Igbide in Isoko South LGA of Delta State for involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery respectively.
The kidnap suspects were identified as Godstime Rufus, 22, of Esiso Street, Agbarho; Stanley Efeme, 21, of NEPA Line and Davidson Esiso, 35, of No. 25, Osah Street, Agbarho.
They were identified by their victim, a resident of Uvwiama Road, Agbarho (name withheld).
The armed robbery suspects were identified as George Akporie, 25, Prosper Asaeta, 29, and Ezekiel Stephen, 23; all of Igbide community in Isoko South LGA.
A release issued by the Command’s PPRO, Bright Edafe, today, said the kidnap victim reported that he was kidnapped on Sunday, January 22 at about 2130hours, along Esiso Street, Agbarho and in the process of transferring him from one vehicle to another by his abductors, he escaped.
The next day, at about 0930hours, he spotted one of the hoodlums who abducted him and immediately reported to the police.
Upon the report, the DPO of Agbarho Division, CSP Samuel Ogwa swiftly mobilized and led Operatives to the area where the hoodlum was sighted and there, one of the suspects, Godstime Rufus, was arrested. The suspect later led the Operatives to a hideout where his partners in crime, Stanley Efeme and Davidson Esiso were also arrested.
The release added that on Friday, March 5, 2021 a case of armed robbery was reported at the Oleh Division by a 33 year old victim (name withheld) who was shot and his Qlink motorcycle snatched from him by suspected armed robbers between Olomoro and Enhwe communities, both in Isoko South LGA.
Following the report, investigation was initiated and the victim taken to Olomoro General Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Fortunately, ten months after, on Monday, January 23, 2022 the victim spotted one of the armed robbery suspects around Sagbama in Bayelsa State and immediately alerted the Command.
Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command,CP Ari Muhammed Ali, directed Operatives of Oleh Division to proceed to Bayelsa State for discreet investigation with a view to arresting the suspects.
Consequently, George Akporie, Prosper Asaeta and Ezekiel Stephen were arrested at Sagbama. One locally made gun was recovered from the suspects.
“All suspects will be charged to Court at the completion of investigation” the release said.
