A kidnap kingpin with a syndicate operating base in Ughelli and environs has been shot dead by Operarives of the Special Squad deployed by the CP of the Delta State Police Command to Ughelli.
The kidnap suspect identified as Joel Joseph who hails from Ekakpamre in Ughelli South LGA was trailed to Iwhre Inene community near Ughelli Town following reliable intelligence.
On sighting the Operatives the suspect opened fire and the Police Special Squad responded and in the ensuing gunfight, the suspect was fatally wounded and taken to the General Hospital, Ughelli where he died in the course of treatment.
One AK 47 assault rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammo was recovered from him .
A statement issued by the Command’s PPRO, SP Edafe Bright said efforts were on top gear to arrest other members of the gang according to available intelligence.
