Three suspected armed robbers have been gunned down by the police in Ebrumede along Ogbolokoso area.
Operatives of the Ebrumede police station while on patrol along the area had sighted a tricycle which all three occupants jumped out from and opened fire on the Operatives, when they were flagged down.
The Operatives responded with a higher fire power and the fleeing suspects were hit but unfortunately gave up the ghost at an hospital where they were rushed to.
One AK-47 assault rifle was recovered from the suspects.
In a related development, the Police in Ibusa have arrested two suspects, Musa Saliu, 27, and Zulka Mohammed, 29,for illegal possession of firearms which they use to terrorize the area.
Also, the Police acting on actionable intelligence raided a notorious black spot in Otu jeremi in Ughelli South LGA where business of sales and distribution of illicit drugs, and weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp is carried out.
On the strength of the information, detectives of the CP monitoring unit stormed the black spot where two suspects namely Matthew Richard, 32, and Sampson Mashama, 37, both from Otu-Jeremi were arrested, and several packs and wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp were recovered.
“Investigation on all cases above is ongoing” the Delta State Police Command has said through a statement issued by the Command’s PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe.
Meanwhile, a kidnap victim has been rescued by the police in Oghara.
The victim whose identity was not immediately disclosed was said to have been abducted by hoodlums about 1900hours, yesterday and when alerted, the DPO of Oghara mobilized and led Operatives who were supported by a team of local vigilante to Oghareki for the rescue.
At about 2150hours, the police sighted a white Benz GLK with reg. No ABC-448-HC said to be used by the Kidnappers, driving around Ogharaki community.
Noticing the police getting closer to their vehicle, the hoodlums abandoned the car and escaped into the bush.
Upon search of the vehicle, the kidnapped victim was found and rescued while 20 rounds of 7.62 AK-47 live ammunition were recovered.
The victim has been reunited with his family while efforts at catching up with the fleeing suspects were ongoing.
“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass while commending the efforts of the DPO and his men, also assured members of the public that the Command will continue to embark on a more proactive and intelligence-led operation to see that criminal elements were completely flushed out of the state.
