A Senior Special Assistant, SSA (Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Chief Mrs Gladys Agbah Ovie, has described the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s, victory of the March 18, Governorship election in Delta State as clean and fair.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Friday, in Ughelli, the governor’s aide said the PDP secured 80 percent win in the election even though Governor Okowa’s target was 50 percent, especially in the home front of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Contender, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Ughelli North .
“We scored over 50 percent in Ughelli North. Upon all the many street lights Senator Omo-Agege did in the local government area, we had 80 percent here. Does that not show that he was not loved? Did he score that mark in any area of Delta North senatorial district? Remove Orogun result and you see that PDP got over 80 percent of the votes here.
Asked to describe how the PDP effectively rigged the election, Chief Mrs Agbah Ovie who was the former women leader and grassroots mobilizer to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege denied that the PDP rigged the election as alleged by the APC.
“We did not rig, it was a dry vote, we wrestled it with the APC. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is not a popular person. In his own Orogun he was not able to hijack the ballots of Orogun ward 1. That tells you much about his popularity. If he goes to court nothing will come out of it.
“Senator Ovie Omo-Agege should accept defeat. He shouldn’t bother to go to court and waste his money. I know he will not heed the advice. With your federal might you were defeated. Where were you when they rigged the election as alleged? You should have won and let PDP go to court. You allowed them to win and you are crying, why crying? Accept defeat so that you will not waste your money and become impoverished.”
She thanked Deltans for giving Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori the mandate to govern the State assuring that he will not disappoint them.
“I believe he will not disappoint, we should all pray for him and ask God to grant him wisdom to accomplish the task at hand, we should all support him.
“He will perform very well. Sheriff is accessible, he does not listen to rumours. He has human feelings. He is not stingy. Sheriff rates people according to their inputs. He is not arrogant. Governor Okowa tried his best and I know Sheriff will do better.
Having won, Chief Mrs Gladys Agbah Ovie advised the Governor-elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to be magnanimous in victory.
“I advise Sheriff to pay more attention to the plight of civil servants and retirees in the State when his government takes off on May 29, 2023. He should also consider reducing school fees for the State owned tetiary institutions; that way, he will win the hearts of all Deltans to support his administration.
” I also advise that when constituting his cabinet, he should consider a significant number of youths and women and I appeal that he should pay attention to the development of Ughelli, Uvwie and other places where the PDP did not win.” She urged.
