In seven days, irregularities that could bar smooth online registration of members of APC Ward 9, Uduophori community in Patani LGA will be put to rest.
The assurance was given by leaders of the party during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party secretariat in Uduophori, Sunday, January 25.
Leading conversation during the meeting, the party chairman at the Patani LGA level, Mr Oruma Julius, said all APC members were expected to participate in the ongoing online registration exercise in line with the directive of the national leadership of the party.
The directive according to him, included those who had earlier registered manually and others who were yet to do so were thereby encouraged to do the e-registration without fail.
The issue of irregularities of data in ownership of individual phone numbers that tally with data in National Identification Number, NIN, that could hamper the smooth e-registration exercise was thrashed and after due analysis of the problem, the leaders of the party in concert with the ward executives vowed to make resources available to mobilise and engage officials of the relevant institutions to the community
to ensure that all members of the party in the community fulfil requirements for ownership of NIN and Voter’s Card to make their party membership e-registration successful.
Oruma recalled that the voting strength of Uduophori community was the determinant of who and who won election in the local government area but lamented that lately, that has become a far cry from the reality on ground and hence charged all to be up and doing to uphold the political stature of the community through mass participation in the e-registration exercise.
Reeling out the benefits of e-registration, Comrade Elijah Ologe, one of the leaders of the party in the community said e-registration would provide ready and easy to access data for planning and execution of projects as well as human capital development cum empowerment of individuals in the community.
” e-registration is also a tool to eliminate manipulations during Congress and other party activities ” Ologe added and encouraged party members to embrace the exercise seriously as planned.
The ward party chairman, Chief Obiemo Freedom had earlier spelt out the challenges the party faced regarding the e-registration exercise.
