A parent, Bello Monday Osayomwanbor, husband to the Chairman, Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) of Federal Government Girls College, Benin has denied the allegation of kidnapping his daughter from school hostel.
Bello urged the general public to disregard the allegation trending online, that he attempted to sneak into the school to take his daughter away without Management’s approval.
He was said to had told the Nigerian Observer that he is a stakeholder in the school’s affairs because he has two children there, therefore, he could not have sneaked in when there is no restrictions of his access.
He explained further: “I only went to the school to take my daughter Anita Osa Bello (SS1) home. My daughter called to inform us that the first aid treatment on her injury by the school did not improve her health, that the injury she sustained hurts her harder.
“Immediately, I moved to the school to take her home for better care. On reaching the school, I reported at the vice principal, students Affairs’ office who immediately signed the EXIT card of my child.
“I immediately appealed to a female staff who is also the PTA Clerk of the school to help me bring my daughter from the girls’ hostel and she obliged. I waited for more than an hour my daughter and the clerk were not in sight.
“When I demanded to know what was wrong, I was surprised to know that the clerk was locked up and being queried by the hostels’ officials who obviously were acting on the instructions of the school principal and some PTA executives who have been waging war against my wife in connection with the affairs of the PTA.
“I didn’t want to join issues with them because I had already smelt the rat, I started appealing to them to pardon whatever wrong, I begged to let me take my child home.
“In the process, one young man called Joseph was recording all that happened and I was wondering what was happening and asked questions on why he was recording, he replied to say that he was acting on the principal’s instruction and that it was part of their practice.
“My interest was to have my child with me. If I did not follow due process, how come the students affairs department issued us the exit card?
“I went into the school through the main gate and my daughter and I also left through same gate. Why the video showing my discussion in the process of getting my daughter with the school officials is published, is what I dont understand. I didn’t go into the hostel to get her by myself; they did!
Continuing, he explained: “It later dawned on me when friends and family members started calling to draw my attention to the online (Trojan) publication on Wednesday, that the purpose of the video recording by Joseph, a staff of the school on that day was part of a calculated and deliberate plan to blackmail me and my wife.”
Mr. and Mrs. Bello have two children as students of FGGC. They are Anita Osa Bello (SS1) and Gladness Osa Bello (SS3).
Also reacting against the online publication, Mrs. Bello, Chairman, PTA of the Federal Girls College said that she did not expect her antagonists in the Association and the school principal to go to this dangerous height of backmail because she did not let them have their way in their unholy alliance to embezzle PTA fund.
She described as false the allegation said to be sponsored by some members of the PTA who wanted her removed as Chairman at all cost.
Explaining that her husband does not have anything to do with the building materials the PTA procured for their building (Hostel) project, she stated “I insist on due process in the execution of the building project.”
According to her, the PTA EXCO chose direct labour option which did not go down well with some persons.
“All the materials we are using are well kept. I want the police to investigate this matter. I thought it was a minor strife within the Association but it is clear now that some persons are after me.”
According to reliable sources; the PTA Exco under the leadership of Mrs. Bello is currently building a hostel that can accommodate at least 500 students to support the school’s existing infrastructure, and accommodation facilities.
However, all efforts to get the School’s Management to react to the narratives of Mr. and Mrs. Bello was not successful as at the time of filing this report, on Thursday evening.
