Deputy Senate President and Delta APC Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has promised to locate a campus off the University of Delta between Burutu and Tuomo.
He made the promise, Tuesday, January 10, when the ongoing ward to ward campaigns of the APC touched ground in Kiagbodo in Burutu LGA.
He said he was ashamed of some Ijaw leaders who are avowed to follow Okowa wherever he goes after all the humiliation Gov Ifeanyi Okowa has meted on the Ijaw nation.
He said he envied the people of Owa-Alero, Okowa’s kinsmen for the development projects he sited there including the location of the University of Delta when he created three news universities without considering the Ijaw nation and wished that the Ijaw people enjoyed what their Owa-Alero counterparts are enjoying.
But he assured that when he becomes governor, he will locate a campus of the university between Burutu and Tuomo to make up for the marginalization by Gov Ifeanyi Okowa.
He revealed that the federal polytechnic, Orogun has cost not more than N16 billion and with N17 billion, he would be able to replicate same in Burutu and Koko to fulfill his campaign promises.
He also promised to address the imbalance in teacher, pupil ratio in schools in Burutu where total number of teaching staff is 16 to over 600 pupils whereas in St Patrick’s College, Asaba the ratio is about 1 to 30.
