Members of Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators, Delta State ( COMTOA ) have backed Delta State Government suspension of its president, Chief Obi Nzete .
This was contained in a letter signed by the trustees of COMTOA: Charles Oghenebrume , Gobless Tbwiu , Lucky Okafor , Augustine Oronimihwu and Lucky Omughele addressed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, dated 17th April, 2023 and made available to the press.
The letter read in part ” We wish to bring to your notice, our amiable Excellency, that Chief Obi Nzete has ceased to be the leader of our association , having been removed in accordance with the provisions our constitution.
” We are not unmindful of the weighty allegations against him and we painstaking investigated same and came to the conclusion albeit belated, that his actions and sometimes inactions , statements and body language cannot totally exonerate him from these allegations.
” We are more than prepared to testify of our findings to his Excellency or before any committee now and in future.
” We therefore disassociate ourselves as a body from Chief Obi Goddey Nzete and his unjustified actions before and during the last general elections” the association added.
The association however passionately appealed that Governor Okowa should reconsider the suspension of its operations.
COMTOA in the statement noted that its operations have taken a lot of young girls off the streets ” and also reduced petty crimes and robbery among the teaming youths who are gainfully employed as units chairmen and taskforce members at various levels of the association”
It would be recalled that the association in a Comunique issued after a general meeting of its members in Warri on Saturday 15th April , 2023 made available to the press, resolved that Chief Obi Nzete should be removed as its state president and member of board of trustees on issues raised in the letter to Governor Okowa.
