The Chairman National Population Commission ( NPC ) Hon Nasir Isa Kwarra has sought for support and assistance from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on the upgrading of Enumeration Area Demarcation ( EAD ) exercise in Udu, Warri South, Isoko North and Ukwani local government areas.
The request was contained in a letter to the governor which was made available to Spy News.
While appreciating Governor Okowa for his support and assistance in the previous phases of the exercise in the state, the National Chairman of NPC , stated that the commission was counting on governor Okowa in ensuring that the upgrading of the exercise was one hundred percent successful in the selected local government areas .
The areas of support and assistance needed by the commission were : sensitisation and mobilization of the populace , security and safety of NPC personnel and materials, augmentation and support for NPC field officials accommodation among others.
Kwarra had earlier explained that the upgrading of the EAD exercise was necessary to bring NPC maps up to date with current realities ” from the time of demarcation 3 – 5 years ago, using EAD pad application and update methodology to recapture and analyze the rate of change of EA buildings density and houses , household numbers and other physical changes on ground ” he stated .
Hon Kwarra assured that NPC functionaries for the exercise were properly kitted and trained on measures aimed at curbing the spread of the dreaded covid 19 pandemic.
He disclosed that he has directed the Honorable commissioner representing Delta State in the board of NPC , Chief ( Sir ) Richard Odibo to work with Governor Okowa on the on the exercise.
