A Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) aspirant for the Ughelli/Udu Federal House of Representatives seat, Chief Solomon Awhinawhi won the rerun of the primary held at Ughelli Stadium on Monday 30th May , 2022.
He scored eighty votes . While the other contestants : Chief TalibTebite, Hon Eunice Daji Okoh and Julius Akpovoka scored three votes , one vote and one vote each respectively.
The returning officer Collins Okafor who spoke to news men after the announcement of the results remarked that the primary was free , fair and credible.
Hon Awhinawhi who addressed the press shortly after the primary, thanked members of the party in the Federal Constituency for their support and for standing by him .
He noted that their support was important because according to him the general elections was more important.
Awhinawhi was also full of appreciation to the aspirants who stepped down for him in the contest.
Those he mentioned were ; Hon Samuel Mariere and Hon ( Chief ) Eunice Daji Okoh.
Okoh had shortly before the election, announced her withdrawal from the contest
She explained that her decision was in the interest and support of PDP .
