National Association of Propietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) , Uvwie Local Government Area Chapter, has charged parents on proper up bringing and educational development of children .

This was contained in the addresses by the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area Chapter of the association , Comrade ( Mrs ) Rose Obi and some distinguished persons with the theme ‘ Save The Nigerian Child ‘ during the last Children’s Day celebration at Paradise Hall , Mosheshe Estate, Effurun.

Obi who is the Proprietress of of the famous City Child Foundation School Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area in her thought-provoking address stated that the educational development of the child should be a national priority .

She reasoned that children represent the brighter future of the country.

Obi therefore called for the quick settlement of the dispute between Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASSU ) and the Federal Government without any further delay.

She had earlier lamented the criminal neglect of children’s educational opportunities by most parents noting that such parents were often engaged in hot chase of money at the expense of the care of their children’s educational development.

Obi admonished such parents to know that the money they were chasing was meant for their children who they did not have time to care for.

She also stressed the need for parents to be mindful of the activities of their wards as according to her, children were more exposed to vices , physical abuse among others.

Obi who is the Vice Chairman of Counseling Association of Nigeria ( CASSON ) , Delta State Chapter then gave some useful tips on good parenting.

The audience

In his address, the Chairman of the occasion, Rev Kalu Earnest Freeman spoke on the topic, ‘ The Challenge of Parental Failure in Child Parenting ‘ .He dwelt on the neglect of children by parents.

He however noted that parenting in Nigeria has become very challenging ” as most of us are battling with a lot of factors ranging from unemployment, low income, limited access to basic needs and highly deplorable economic condition.

” So we spend more time focussing on providing for the family and neglect the children ” he noted.

The Proprietress of Edulyn Schools, Ekpan Lady ( Mrs ) Carol Uche Nwanolue who spoke to news men in a chat during the event, commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his laudable achievements in the Education sector so far.

While describing the relationship between private schools and Delta State Government as very cordial, she noted that private schools were established to complement government ‘ s effort in the establishment of public schools.

The event featured : a lecture on technology, talks on nutrition, class skipping/ truancy, dressing among others by erudite resource personalities.

Souvenirs of designer face caps and t – shirts were given to guests at the epoch making event.
