During the early days of Olorogun David Edevwie in the United Kingdom while studying for a Master’s degree, the vision to replicate the infrastructural development strides he saw in the UK environment back then in Delta State became his dream. So when he graduated and was engaged by Barclays Bank, he continued working for the growth of the UK financial sector leading quality performance on his job.
Now that the need arose to build infrastructure in Delta State, Olorogun Edevbie will use his professional experience to achieve the goal despite recognising that building modern infrastructure involve huge capital investments.
It is important to note that while advancing his career in the UK banking sector, the call to serve Delta State altered his career and this created a new ambition for exploring his banking experience in driving sectors growth, offering huge potentials and viable prospects for infrastructural development particularly in the aspect of sustainable urban renewal projects.
Olorogun David Edevbie is keenly interested in promoting development in various sectors, including the Oil and Gas, Energy, Agricultural, Banking, Communication, Services and Infrastructure sectors. These sectors play significant roles in developing not only Delta State but Nigeria.
Edevbie recognised as Commissioner for Finance Delta State, that the bulk of finances voted into the development of the various States of Nigeria were from Oil and Gas revenues, hence his determination to achieve the vision of transforming the infrastructural landscape of Delta State engaging pragmatic steps and futuristic plans beyond dependence on revenues from oil.
That is why he would promote private partnership in modernising our state, while engaging various sectors to adopt the new policies that would be formulated to drive the physical planning of our local environments.
Having served Government in strategic roles, Olorogun David Edevbie thinks that becoming the Governor of Delta State should further equip him to achieve the vision of promoting urban renewal initiatives and strategic infrastructural developments.
Modernising Delta together is a vision statement that seeks to build our State through implementing urban renewal initiatives driven by policy instruments. The vision shall involve all stakeholders as partners in building modern infrastructure exploring both the best available technologies and the most cost effective engineering.
While consultative meetings are underway to earn the supports of our leaders and that of members of our great party, the PDP to have him nominated as the gubernatorial candidate, we are equally using this medium to encourage partnership from you as we seek supports across board towards achieving the vision.
It is important to stress that as a Financial Administrator, Olorogun David Edevbie shall ensure relevant legislation are put in place to drive the vision effectively, particularly in areas of financial transparency, effective town planning and physical environmental management among others; when these laws are enforced, Deltans should see the results of the vision.
The Edevbie’s governorship proposes such governance that would oversee engaging renown industry leaders in the physical planning and building of Delta State, while integrating our rural communities in ensuring full compliance to local developmental plans.
David Edevbie’s intention is not just to become Governor, but to lead this vision towards leaving behind indelible footprints in the sand of Delta State. The Edevbie’s footprints should serve as model for future generations to emulate.
