A 26 years old man, Mr Aliyu Na Idris Babalola who put himself for sale at the cost of N20 million has been arrested by the Islamic police, Hisbah, in Kano.
Mr Aliyu, a tailor whose business has failed took the option of selling himself to slavery and had been looking for a buyer to buy him at the cost of twenty million naira.
He had hawked himself in Kaduna without any buyer meeting his transaction rate and proceeded to Kano in search of a possible buyer that would meet the value for his commodity.
Sources said he had planned to proceed to Lagos should he not also find a buyer in Kano.
But he was eventually arrested by the Hisbah police in Kano yesterday.
Hisbah police boss, Sheik Harun Ibn Sina said it was forbidden in Islam to put oneself up for sale for any reason.
Aliyu Na Idris has been making rounds on the internet for putting himself up for sale.
Upon deciding to sell himself, the former tailor had told reporters that he was putting himself up for sale for N20 million because of poverty.
He added that his parents were aware of his decision and had already made plans on how to spend the money.
According to him, when bought, he would pay N5 million as tax to the government, N10 million to his parents, N2 million to whoever gets him a buyer, and N3 million to his buyer for his upkeep.
However, Sheik Harun Ibn Sina, head of Hisbah, who confirmed the arrest.
“Yes, we arrested him yesterday, and he spent the night in custody but I have not spoken with him,” the Hisbah police boss said.
