LP Edo dismisses purported suspension of national Chairman

LP Chairman, Comrade Julius Abure

• Says act of faceless persons cannot stand

By Kingsley Abavo, Benin

The Labour Party, Edo State Chapter has dismissed the purported suspension of its National Chairman, Julius Abure saying it was an act of persons not known to the Party.

It declared the purported suspension, as a journey to futility, of no consequence; an act of people unknown to the party structure and members.

The Party in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Kelly Ogbaloi and made available to newsmen in Benin City, said: “the names credited to have suspended our National Chairman are not known as members of Labour Party in Esan East, Ward 4 and as such do not have the locus for such action.

“The strange names and persons like Martin Osigbemhe, Lucky Shaibu, Iseh Zekeri, Omogbai Faruk, Abokhailu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef and Job Elamah are unknown to the leaders and members of the Party in the affected area, thus their actions in whatever form, are inconsequential, null and void which should be disregarded in its entirelty by the general public.”

Describing signatories to the suspension drama as “faceless” Ogbaloi said they are “people with the sole intention of dragging the name of our party into the mud.

“We are law abiding people in our Party that is working hard to ensure we build a new Nigeria of our dream, so, these faceless people just want to paint a different narrative which we are not ready to succumb to at this time.

“No faceless group of people would be allowed to start spreading false statement about our National Chairman after he has put in so much effort to build the Party, we would resist it with all our collective strengths.”

The fabricators of the alleged suspension are not card carrying members and are not known to the Party both at State , local Government Area, and Ward levels, the statement further said.

“We have checked the record of our members both at the State and local Government Area, those names are not in our register.

“If really, they are our members why are they afraid to use their real names? Because they know the implication of their action.”

The Party however called on the general public to disregard the fabricated story, as it is false and baseless as its leadership in the State has passed a Vote of Confidence on the National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure’s led Exco.

“Edo State reaffirmed its confidence on his performance and declare their full support behind him.”
