The remains of late Ma Esiso Esther Mrakpor has been laid to rest in her compound at Iwhrekan in Ughelli South LGA.
Before the committal to mother earth the body was taken to the St Paul Anglican Church, Otu Jeremi where a funeral service was held in her honour.
In a homily for the dead, the Revd Can S.G.O Ogoro said the belief in the resurrection of the dead gave hope to the living as contained in the Bible Book of 1 Thessalonian 4: 13.
” This funeral service is the only social activity the celebrant is not allowed to participate . The remains of the dead lying there is a reminder that one day we will die and stand before the Maker but what is important is that when we fall asleep, we fall asleep before God.”
He called on those who had not known God to sieze the opportunity to repent.
He said the large crowd of sympathizers who graced the funeral was a testament of the good life Ma Esiso Esther Mrakpor lived and hence, they came to celebrate her life with the children.
The Revd Can S.A Erediyoma, Vicar of the St Paul Anglican Church, Otu Jeremi in a commendation charged the soul of the departed to ” go forth upon your journey in the name of God the Father who created you; in the name of Christ who suffered for you; in the name of the Holy Spirit who sanctified you; and may your rest be in peace and your dwelling in the paradise of the people of God.”
In faith and hope of resurrection to eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ, the priest, on behalf of the church and people commended the soul of late Mrs Esiso Esther Mrakpor to the Almighty God and committed her body to the ground at 1250pm.
” Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, and dust to dust. May the Lord bless and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, may the Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace” he asked in a committal after which the body was interred.
The late Ma Esiso Esther Mrakpor was born on April 5, 1944. She lived a successful life until she passed on to eternity in the early hours on January 1st, 2024. She was survived by Dr Festus Mrakpor, Hon Sunday Mrakpor, Chief Alfred Mrakpor, Chief Efe Mrakpor and Engr Stanley Ogba the last son of the Iyasobo dynasty, as she was fondly called.
