Leader of the Youths, Uselu N’ Ahor Village, Uhunmwonde Local Government Council Area, Edo State, Mike Enotiomwonmwan a.k.a Akpan, has cried out knowing nothing about the recent shooting and killings in the locality.
According to reports, the shooting of five persons by unknown gun men leaving three dead, occurred at the Trailer Park popularly known as Ahor Kara Market within, on Wednesday, 20 April, 2022.
Uselu N’Ahor is a suburb of the State Capital, Benin-City at the By-pass, off Auchi road.
Akpan cried out pleading his innocence; following rumour accusing him of being mastermind of the dastardly act.
He was sleeping at home, the night the incident happened and informed by one of the youths who came to wake him in the morning, he said.
Saying he was still in shock, he said the dead whose names were simply given as Ugbor, Osasu and Courage are his brothers; and could not have turned the barrel of the gun at them for any reason.
“On receiving the news, I called the Enogie, Osaro Omoregie; second in command to the Odionwere (most senior person); Ohen (Priest) and other elders of the Village, but up till now none of them has responded. Even since one month, the Enogie has not been in the village.”
Responding to further probing; there was no prior disagreement/crisis of any kind among the youths, or any group in the area, to had provoked the shooting and killings, he said.
Also, on April 17, 2021, Akpan missed death by the whiskers when he and one other person were shot at the same place.
While the other died instantly on the spot, he is still on medication battling to be healthy again.
Lamenting what now seems as annual ritual in the locality, and expressing fears that no one is safe anymore, Akpan appealed, that the Police and State Government should quickly step in to unravel those behind the shooting and killings; and bring them to justice.
This he added, would help utterly to stem the breeding tide.
However, the spokesperson, Edo State Police Command SP Kontongs Bello has assured, that investigation has begun to arresting the culprits.
