Authorities of the Delta State Police Command have deployed combat Operatives to Ogwashi-uku to combat and contain rising cases of kidnappings and armed robbery in the area.
The deployment was carried out by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) DCP Aina Adesola in compliance with the directive of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
The CP issued the directive in response to series of complaints about incessant kidnapping and armed robbery cases in the area.
The Area Commander in charge of Ogwashi-uku has also been directed to coordinate the operation.

The deployed combat Operatives and tactical teams were drawn from Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net and Rapid Response Squad.
The Command’s Anti-kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad (SAKCCS) has relocated to Ogwashi-uku with an order to embark on intelligence-driven policing and to ensure that all suspected kidnappers and armed robbers carrying out the nefarious activities are arrested and brought to justice.
The State Intelligence Department (SID) has also been directed to join force and embark on under cover policing duties and intelligence gathering in the area.
The CP assured residents in the state of the Command’s commitment to providing security and safety for all.
The assurance was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Edafe Bright.
” Members of the public are urged to go about their lawful business while monitoring their environment and report any suspicious person or movement to the Police.” The statement added.
