Mr Stanley Odogwu newly elected PG of Ijaws in Ughelli being carried shoulder high after winning the election.

Ijaw people living within Ughelli Kingdom, Ughelli North Council Area of Delta State have elected Mr.Stanley Odogwu as their pioneer President -General to pilot the affairs of the Ijaws for the next four years.
The election which was held at Ughelli township stadium and was conducted under the watch of a representative of HRM, Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi 111, Ovie of Ughelli kingdom.
The entire contestants for various offices of a 10-man executive were returned unopposed.
Those who were elected alongside the President -General are, Mr. Marculay Kenneth (Vice-president), Oroso Daunemugha (Secretary), Mr Young Aseyai (Asst. Secretary), Mrs. Pena-ere M. Ayakeme (Treasurer), Singabele Pereokosufa (PRO).
Other members of the executive include: Timi Kemeakegha (Financial Secretary), Maze Ebiarede (Woman leader), Mrs Ezon-ere Edeinmene (Asst. Woman leader) and Mr. Moroyei Diribagha (welfare officer).
The newly inaugurated President -General Odogwu in his acceptance speech thanked God Almighty for making him attain this feat in life and also thanked the Ijaw community living in Ughelli for reposing confidence on him to lead them.
He promised to strengthen, promote ,guide the Ijaw course and to preach peaceful and harmonious coexistence with the host kingdom calling on the Ijaw elders, leaders and youths to provide useful ideas that would advance the Ijaw culture to the Ughelli kingdom, Delta State and Nigeria at large.
Odogwu stressed that since he would be a rallying point for all Ijaws in Ughelli, he will strive to ensure the unity amongst it’s people and be fair to all while carrying out his duties.
