The Presidential campaign rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) held on Thursday, 5 January, 2023 in Benin-City, Edo State may have passed but the memory certainly will not be forgotten in a short while.
Contrary to raging controversy about the fitness, capacity and capability of the the Party’s Presidential candidate; Bola Ahmed Tinubu (The Jagaban!), many critics and doubting Thomases were proven wrong at the end of the day.
This is as he displayed not only charisma, but evidence that he has the grasp of all the issues as they were in the electioneering campaign.
Addressing the crowd, the APC Presidential hopeful intermittently sent his audience into a fit of rib cracking laughter in a display of high sense of humor.
He did this combining oratory power and the experience of long years of mounting the podium to deliver address in hyping his audience’s interest in his message.
Going forward, the ‘Jagaban’ did not forget to tell the people why he should be the chosen one amongst the Presidential candidates in the February elections.
Tackling the opposition, he said; some of their Governors commissioned ordinary market shades and they are celebrating. They could not fight real challenges like flooding and erosion.
The first time Adams Oshiomole came to the scene and was elected Governor in Edo State, it was decided that he fights the menace of erosion, and it was a huge success.
But today, what we have in Edo State is a Government of demolition which could not sustain the legacy of flooding and erosion control and other solid foundations bequeathed to it. Hence it was time up for the PDP administration, he declared.
Tinubu asserted he was not worried about the alleged pulling down of APC campaign billboards by the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, as he was sure of a resounding victory at the February polls.
“They think I am bordered about not allowing my poster billboards to stay, I no border, I go win election, I go beat them flat!”
This is as he promised to replicate the growth and development he engineered in Lagos when he is voted as President of Nigeria.
“Somebody don build market shade in Delta State and e dey walk about celebrating say dem don achieve. I don’t commission market place; no, no, no!”
Rather, he would build multi billion naira projects, turn the country to economic nerve centre; economic Hub, give skills to the youths so that they can be on their own; and get rid of estimated billing for electricity consumed, he promised.
Also, he would support the Benin Royal Throne in the demand of restitution for stolen artifacts across the globe, if he is voted as President of Nigeria.
Adding, that he would contribute personally to funding the building of the Benin Royal Museum.
“Sociologically, we can make mountains, we can climb Kilimanjaro, we can defeat poverty; we break the shackle of poverty, shackle of ignorance, shackle of hopelessness!
“We will do it together! We have the knowledge, we have the brain; trust me; I am an expert in finding the way where there is no way!
“I found the way to take the Atlantic and turned it to a money making machine, I found the way to stop killing drainages to channelization and asset of prosperity in Lagos.”
Asserting that he had done many things, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated he had provided potable water in Lagos, and paid West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) fees for the children of the poor and today, they have turned valuable personalities in the society.
“That is the power of thinking and doing. That is why I say elect me if you want prosperity. If you want prosperity, elect me; I am saying so throughout Nigeria.
“If you say go retire now; you retire knowledge, diamond, gold and minerals!”
