Committee of youth community chairmen in the ancient Urhobo kingdom of Agbarha Warri , Warri South Local Government Area have called for peaceful elections in the March 18th 2023 governorship/ house of assembly elections in the area.
A member of the committee, Comrade Precious Bazunu who is the chairman of Otovwodo (Agbassa ):Community , traditional headquarters of Agbarha Warri Kingdom stated this in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent last weekend .
He disclosed that at a meeting held by the committee in Agbarha Community of Igbudu, members of the committee called for peaceful elections in the 7 communities that comprised the kingdom.
Bazunu who stated that the committee was not in support of any political party, stated that the committee enjoined elegible voters in the area to come out enmass to exercise their civic responsibility by voting for the candidates of their choice without fear of intimidation.
He stated also that the committee was prepared to give the necessary support to government security agents in providing security before, during and after the elections.
” We however appealed to INEC to do the needful in order to avoid any thing that could cause crisis before, during and after the elections.
The youth chairman of Otovwodo Agbassa Community proudly stated that Agbarha Warri is the biggest kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area both in size and population.
He listed the communities that comprised Agbarha Warri Kingdom to include : Otovwodo (Agbassa)Igbudu, Ogunu , Edjeba, Okurode ( Ekurede Urhobo ), Ukpokiti (riverine) and Oteghele ( riverine).
Bazunu stated that the said communities were as old as the history of Warri and that they were not created by chairmen of Warri South Local Government Council.
