Former ; President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Edo State governor and national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; outgoing governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and others have been commended for their doggedness in ensuring that southern Nigeria produced the President in the 2023 general elections in accordance with the unwritten agreement of power rotation between the North and South of Nigeria.
The commendation was given by the Niger Delta Emerging Youth Initiative, NDEYI, in a statement issued by the group’s national Coordinator, Comrade Felix Akpoyibo yesterday.
The statement said Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Nyesome Wike, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege were dogged in telling Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to his face that he had no moral right to contest the 2023 presidential election following the existing gentlemanly agreement on rotation of power between the North and South, with the expiration of the second term of the Buhari administration
According to the group, Atiku was ready to yield to the rebuke but the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa put pressure on Atiku to go on, assuring that he would fund the project with Delta State resources since he had the capacity to breach the agreement having hosted a convocation of southern governors earlier on in Asaba.
Following the staunch support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege gave to the southern president cause, some pro North interest actors and powerful cabals with influence over the federal government, acting in connivance with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, manipulated the March 18 governorship election in Delta State and ensured that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the APC were rigged out after cleanly winning the election in the three senatorial districts.
“Our commendation goes to Oshiomhole, Omo-Agege, Wike, Ayade and other leaders as well as other stakeholders in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states who stood their feet in support of Tinubu getting substantive votes from the region, otherwise, the story would have been different.”
He however expressed hope that with the volume of evidence at the disposal of the APC in Delta State in respect of how the People’s Democratic Party, PDP working in concert with officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, rigged the election by bypassing the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BIVAS, “we are sure of victory at the Tribunal.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a man that sees evil and turns away his face, he loves justice and will ensure that service is served to the deserving.”
Speaking about saboteurs who worked against the interest of the party during the election, the group called on the President elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be wary of those who betrayed and worked against the party during the presidential election, pointing accusing finger at Samson Osagie, Cairo Ojougbouh, Lauretta Onochie and others in the South-South region, and urged that they be dealt with for their sabotage and treachery.
