The nation wide strike action planned by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC to commence tomorrow has been suspended.

The proposed strike was in reaction to the removal of Premium Motor Spirit (fuel) subsidy by the federal government.

At a meeting between representatives of the federal government and labour, yesterday, the issues associated with the removal of fuel subsidy were thrashed.

The meeting was at the instance of the Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon Femi Gbamiajiabila’s intervention.

Also on the FG side were: Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Festus Keyamo (SAN) while the Presidents of the TUC and NLC, Comrade Engr Festus Osifo and Comrade Joseph Ajaero were on the side of Labour.

The meeting ended at 1040pm and the following resolutions which led to the suspension of the planned strike were reached:

* A joint committee of the federal government and labour is to be established to propose a review of wage increase and establish framework and timeline for implementation.
