…Says, it is countinuity in progress for NUGA

Emeka Ogbu of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), has emerged the new President, Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA).
Ogbu was returned unopposed to become the new NUGA President after his only opponent Dr. Nnadozie Cliford of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture , Umudike, Abia State, voluntarily stepped down from the race few hours before the election held.
He was elected on Friday, 25th of March, 2022 to steer the Association’s wheel of progress; for the next two years.
Until now, Ogbu served as 1st Vice President under the immediate past President, Prof. Stephen S. Hamafyelto.
Also elected with Ogbu are Dr. Bawa Mohammed as 1st Vice President, (Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi), and Dr. Michael Ajibuwa of the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA), among others.
The election held during the 26th edition of NUGA competition which held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Briefing newsmen during the swearing-in ceremony, Ogbu thanked the Almighty God for the opportunity to serve Nigerians and the Sports community.
He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to a number of stakeholders, notably his predecessor, for the remarkable hosting of the just concluded NUGA games.
Also, Azana Omo-Agege, the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) Vice President,
Bayo Osagie, Sylvester Isioma, Member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee on Education who were among the Observers and dignitaries at the games.
He promised to work with various Directors of Sports in affiliate Universities, to ensure the next NUGA games have the best of organisation and innovative ideas.
“We will collaborate and bring the best of brains to raise the bar in terms of preparation and sourcing for partnerships; to improve the quality of our sporting competitions.”
