Ember months: Delta CP issues Operation Order to officers

Delta State Police Command has issued an Operation Order to all Area Commander’s, DPOs and Tactical Commanders to curb criminal activities often associated with ember months.

The state commissioner of police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi disclosed this today during a press conference at the Force Headquarters, Asaba.

He said following proactive measures in deployments within the metropolis, cases of kidnapping and armed robbery have significantly reduced.

“There will be increased visibility policing, raiding of black spots and criminal hideout across the twenty-five local government areas in the state.

” I also wish to encourage members of the public to trust and always report incidences to the Police as this goes a long way in fighting and checkmating the activities of criminals.”

Giving a list of achievements recorded by the Command recently, the CP said:

Undercover surveillance team attached to B division Asaba recovered 3 locally made cut to size guns, one pump action gun and 3 live cartridges along Okwe Road, Oko Market, Asaba yesterday after a confrontation with some suspects who abandoned their Toyota Avalon vehicle with registration number  JJT 253 AJ and fled.

He said two kidnap victims were  rescued at Umunede Forest after being kidnapped along Asaba Benin Highway on August 30.

The police successfully foiled a kidnap attempt  and recovered  arms and ammunition in Oghara, along Otefe Ovade Legit Road.

The sum of N2,344,000 ransome money was recovered from suspects in Ebrumede among other achievements.  The CP said.
