There was jubilation among residents of Warri , particularly in Warri South Constituency 11 on the victory of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) candidate Chief ( Hon ) Benson Obire over the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP ) candidate Hon Matthew Opuoru ( the incumbent member representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta State House of Assembly).
Observers saw the victory of Obire as the biggest upset in the just concluded general elections in Warri South Local Government Area as PDP has dominated the seat for the past 24 years in the constituency .
The victorious Obire who spoke to newsmen expressed gratitude to God for the victory.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of the area as he said that the people had yearned for positive change.
While assuring the people a positive change, he solicited for their continued support for him and the APC in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
The Chairman of APC Warri South Local Government Area, Hon Maro Owumi affirmed that the people of the Constituency has been yearning for a positive change and that the election of Hon Obire will attract positive developments to the area .
Similarly , the Unuevwodo ( representative of the Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom ) High Chief Michael Ikpuri disclosed that he prayed that a candidate that can attract positive developments to the area should emerge winner of the election .
In his contribution, Hon ( Chief ) Westham Adehor (JP ) who recently defected from PDP to APC expressed optimism that Hon Obire will attract positive developments not only to the constituency but to the entire Urhobos of Warri owing to his positive antecedents as the Deputy Unuevwodo of Otovwodo (Agbassa): Community, former member of the defunct Agbarha Warri Community Development Committee ( CDC ) and former youth Chairman of Agbarha Warri Kingdom.
He noted that the victory was a testimony to the fact that Warri belonged to the Urhobos.
Meanwhile Hon Obire was driven in an open back posh car as he acknowledged cheers from residents in long procession of party members and supporters who sang his praise among major roads in Warri.
