Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O Oborewori (JP) has commissioned a 150 seat capacity e-learning centre built, furnished and donated to Auchi Polytechnic by Apostle (Prof) Johnson Suleiman, President of Omega Fire Ministry International.
The governor who was represented by the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor said, ” if all of us and the well-to-do in the society can give back to the community, government would have less to do.”
He thanked the man of God, Apostle Prof Johnson Suleiman for giving back to his community adding, “we don’t have to wait for government alone as government can not do all alone especially now that the country is facing hard time.”
On his part, Apostle Prof Johnson Suleiman thanked the management of the polytechnic for allowing him to build the ICT as a way of giving back to the society.
He said the ICT was built for value addition for lives because the breakdown of Africa is the breakdown of the young ones and the breakdown of society is also the breakdown of the young people saying when the young ones are given direction, equipped and engaged, the society would be a better place.
In his welcome address, the Rector, Auchi Polytechnic Dr Salisu Shehu Umar thanked Apostle Prof. Johnson Suleiman for the donation of the 150 seat capacity e-learning centre for the polytechnic.
He specifically thanked the donor for identifying with the polytechnic and for being partner in progress saying that it is an inspiration to humanity adding that with the massive project, it is obvious that Apostle Prof Suleiman sees education as the single most important resources an individual can contribute to his community hoping that the good example he has set will serve as a model for many others.
Dr Umar stated that the place of ICT in education cannot be over emphasized as the use of ICT has fundamentally changed the practices and procedures of education all over the world as it has contributed immensely to the quality and quantity of teaching and learning through its dynamic interaction and engagement.
He said the 150 seat capacity e-learning centre is an additional to the quality of students centered-learning that have been desired for the Auchi Polytechnic.
According to him, “the centre will make available to students and staff different teaching and learning method, provide, accelerate, enrich and deepen ICT skills of both staff and students within the polytechnic community.
The Rector however appreciated the management team, academic board members, staff and students for their cooperation and for making sure that the polytechnic is peaceful and secure for a project like this to be commissioned.
