
Prof Tonukari and Engr Okagbare cutting the 5th matriculation ceremony cake during the event

518 matriculants have been admitted as undergraduates into the Delta Central Polytechnic, Ughelli.
Rector of the institution, Engr Anthony Okagbare declared the 518 matriculants admitted during the occasion of the 5th matriculation ceremony of the school held on Saturday, March 15 at the school temporary site campus.
Delta Central Polytechnic also known as Delta Central College of Business Management Studies, DECCOBAMS was founded in 2019 and got accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2024.
This year’s matriculation ceremony recorded a 62.9 per cent increase of fresh students admitted into the school against 2024 when 318 matriculants were admitted as undergraduates.
Since 2019 when it was founded, the school has churned out over 600 graduates in various disciplines. All graduates of the school participate in the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) assignment.
The school has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Paul University, Awka to offer HND to Bsc conversion, post graduate and masters programs.
Speaking during the occasion,Delta State Governor represented by the State Commissioner of higher education, Prof Nyerhovwo Tonukari commended leadership of the institution for it’s relentless pursuits of excellence and urged effort to attain greater heights.

“Delta State Government recognizes the importance of technical education in the development of society and we will ensure that such institutions are able to compete with their counterparts in the global stage. We will continue to implement policies that enhance higher education in the state.” The governor assured.
In a good will message, member representing Ughelli North Constituency 11 in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Spencer Obokpare Ohwofa Esq urged the matriculants to make good use of the platform provided by the school by being focused in their studies.
Matriculation lecture titled ‘School is not scam’ was delivered by Engr Ohworode Oyovwi, Director of Works, College of Education, Warri.
