Divisional Police Officers, DPOs of the 25 local government areas in Delta State have been directed to lead escorts of voting materials (sensitive and non sensitive) for tomorrow’s election to their various LGAs for conduct of the local councils elections.
The directive was given by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi when he led the DCP Operations, the squadron commander 31PMF and DPOs across the twenty-five LGAs to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office, Asaba, where the materials are kept.
In the view of the senior police officers, the CP inspected the materials and directed the DPOs to ensure that the materials were led safely to their destinations tomorrow.
They were also directed to ensure that the elections were conducted peacefully and hitch-free.
The CP assured the electorate of a successful, peaceful and credible election.
He further reiterated the restriction of movement from 8am to 3pm on Election Day while noting that NABTEB examination students and people on essential duties will not be affected by the restriction order.
