Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has called on Bayelsans to be wary of politicians who use falsehood and propaganda to push their selfish political agenda at the expense of the common good of the societ
Governor Diri spoke on yesterday when the state leadership of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Government House, Yenagoa
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said such politicians do not mean well for the state and must be placed where they rightly belong in the society
He likened them to fake political shepherds who habitually abandon their flock after the election, and regroup when another electoral season beckon
Governor Diri commended the Urhobo community in the state for their peaceful disposition and continued support for the governmen
According to the Bayelsa chief executive, his administration is not unmindful of the overwhelming support the Urhobos gave him and his deputy during and after the 2019 gubernatorial elections in the stat
He also thanked the delegation for acknowledging and appreciating the completed and ongoing infrastructural project
Responding to the requests made by the group, ranging from the appointment of its members to the provision of a bus, Governor Diri promised that the government would look into addressing them within the limits of available resource
Earlier in his remarks, the UPU president, Bayelsa state chapter, Chief Charles Ururu, thanked Governor Douye Diri for the capital projects executed by his administration, especially efforts being put into the Sagbama-Ekeremor Ro
Chief Ururu, however, appealed to the governor to create an office of special adviser for the teeming number of Urhobo residents in the state and a bus to enhance their operation
Also speaking, the Okobaro 1 of Urhobo, in Bayelsa state, HRM Joshua Aweyu, said the Urhobo community would continue to identify with the Peoples Democratic Party and the present administration in Bayelsa
