Appeal to others to step aside

Concerned members of APC across the eight local government of Delta Central senatorial districts have appealed to the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to consider running for the Senate seat of the district in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing stakeholders at a meeting held in Oviore community Townhall in Oviore, tin Ethiope East local government area, Chief Francis Atanomeyovwi, Federal Commissioner trepresenting South-South in the National Assembly 5th Commission, Abuja said the purpose of the of the meeting was to appeal to Senator Ovie Omo Agege who he described as their political leader to ” contest the Senate seat in 2027 general elections “.

” He is the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Assembly and has already served two terms, during which he performed wonderfully and efficiently, exceeding our expectations.

” We have felt the difference in terms of quality representation, execution of various projects across Delta State, political appointments, pensionable employment, and sponsoring important bills in the Senate. Notably, 99% of his bills were passed into law, among other contributions to our national growth and development.”

He is no other person than H.E. Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege CFR, the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Assembly.

” His advocacy since Nigeria’s Independence in 1960 has stood the test of time, ranking him best in public surveys carried out. He has the capacity to deliver, and our senatorial district needs that proven hand of Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege CFR again – aka Agege again.

“We also respectfully request other aspirants to consider withdrawing honourably so we can unite behind our best candidate. This is not about undermining others; it’s about consolidating unity and strength.

“On behalf of everyone present, I call upon our beloved brother and son, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege CFR, with the best credentials and track record of his 8 years at the National Assembly, to accept this call to serve his people and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“H.E. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege CFR, you’re going back to the Senate to finish the work you have started and to make our country a better place – a nation we can be proud of. Thank you, and God bless you for listening”, Atanomeyovwi enthused.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege played active role in the election of Senator Ede Dafinone in 2023 for the Delta Central Senate seat.

There have been calls for a replacement of Ede Dafinone in the 2027 elections by some stakeholders citing dismal performance.

If Senator Ovie Omo-Agege heeds the call to return to the Senate, he would vie with Ede Dafinone for the Senate seat ticket.

The geopolitical zone of origin of Ede Dafinone which is the arc that also subtends incumbent state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori limits the chance of Ede Dafinone in the 2027 Senate seat elections but aptly favours Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

As at press time Ovie Omo-Agege could not be reached for comment but some of his confidants have expressed satisfaction with the call for his return to the Senate hailing convener of the meeting, Hon Francis Onotanomeyovwi for a job well done.
