Peter Obi

His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi has decried the treatment meted to the irrate passenger of Ibom Air, Ms Comfort Emmanson saying the manner which she was publicly stripped was not only the height of rascality but the way she was hurriedly taken to court and remanded in prison was also not only unacceptable, bias but also speaks of double standards.
Peter Obi was reacting to the recent drama involving a lady and Ibom Air crew members following altercations that led to fisticuffs and eventual restraining of the passenger.
Writing on his official X formerly Twitter handle, Peter Obi said while Nigeria authorities allowed King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, a celebrated Fuji Singer also known as KWAM1 who stood on the tarmac to block an aircraft from taxiing following an altercation with airport officials, and put hundreds of lives at risk; to be free and still at large, with government agencies and some State officials speaking up for him to be forgiven, Ms Comfort Emmanson was bundled and hurriedly sent to court and remanded in prison.
Obi said the case was not just about a young woman, rather it is about the double standards that poison the Nigeria Justice System adding that Justice in Nigeria should never be about who is poor or powerless versus who has influence or access to government officials.
“While Ms Comfort Emmanson is in jail, the other offender ( Wasiu Ayinde Marshal) who committed a more serious offence has not been held to the same standard in any court.
“We must build a country where Justice is fair, equal and not selective, especially against women who are seen to be weaker.
“We must end that selective treatment of the poor or less privileged. If Justice must be served, it should be served to all, and it must be served fairly ” Obi sued.
