At last, the largely rumored construction of a flyover at the Otovwodo Junction of the East West Road in Ughelli is due to see the light of day.
The Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State has approved the construction of the flyover at a cost of N39.3billion.
On completion, the flyover will ease movement at the Otocwodo Junction, which most often gets locked, especially at the weekends when volume of vehicular traffic peaks.
There is usually a heavy inflow of traffic from Warri axis intersecting with the flows from Asaba and Yenogoa/Port Harcourt axes confluencing at the Otovwodo Junction and causing heavy gridlock that last hours of discomfort.
Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for works (Rural roads) disclosed the approval after a State Executive Council, SEC, meeting held today in Asaba
The flyover, he said, is among other projects approved by SEC presided over by the Governor.
All the projects littered across the three senatorial districts of the State amount to N230billion.
Chief among the projects which Aniagwu described as forming infrastructure package being delivered by the Oborevwori administration are a N59billion flyover to be constructed at the Uromi Junction in Agbor, and a N35billion dual carriageway on Sapele Road in Effurun.
The Agbor flyover is awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria plc. It will feature two roundabouts and 30meter- long beams, longer than those in the Warri axis, Aniagwu added.
